Roberts-Levine Trophy
The West Midlands Golf League currently comprises 36 Golf Clubs divided into six Zones of six Golf Clubs.
The WMGL is a very competitive golf league with clubs fielding teams of 8 players, 4 players in each team to play off handicap index 3.1 to 8.1 and the remaining 4 players in each team to play off handicap index 8.2 to 13.2. The team is selected in pairs, one player from each handicap category. The games are played fourball match play format.
The top two clubs in each zone, together with the four best 3rd places from the zones move into the knockout stage of the competition. Knockout matches are played Home and away on the same basis as the zone matches. The Final is played over 18 holes at a neutral venue. The winning club is declared West Midlands League Champions of that particular year and is awarded the much coveted Roberts-Levine Trophy.

History of The Roberts-Levine Trophy
The WMGL committee do not have any history regarding the West Midlands Golf Trophy other than the name above and the inscription on the side of the trophy (in Kunstler script) which reads as follows:
The Roberts – Levine trophy
In memory of our sons
Carl Harold and Emmanuel Stuart
1967
We believe the two figures on the trophy depict the sons of Mr Roberts and Mr Levine and the large column in the centre of the trophy, severed at a fraction of its full height, indicates that their sons lives were also cut short, possibly as the result of a road traffic accident.
Should anybody reading this story have any further information regarding the trophy please do not hesitate to contact the WMGL via our Contact Us page.
